イポーは人口の約7割が中華系民族であることから中国寺院が沢山あります。
その中でも一番有名な洞窟寺院のKEK LOOK TONG (極楽洞）と、一番マイナー（かもしれない）フォトジェニックな寺院Enlightened Heart Buddhist Temple（心意佛院）の2つに行ってきました。
それぞれの見どころ、また注意する点などを詳しくご紹介します。
KEK LOOK TONG (極楽洞）
こちらのKEK LOOK TONGはこの巨大な石灰岩の洞窟の中にある寺院で、
1920年頃は参拝の場として知られていましたが1960年頃には鉄鉱石が採掘できると認知され、再び参拝目的で人が立ち寄るようになったのは1970年代に入ってから。
洞窟の中
私たちはちょうど旧市街のウォールアートでバテバテになった直後に「涼」を求めてこちらに来ました。
階段を上った先にまず見えるのが香炉。
日本の浅草寺の常香炉のように線香の煙を浴びたくなるような見た目でしたが誰もやってなかったので我慢しました。笑
孔子の像がある、というのも中華系寺院ならではですね！
それにしても像が新しめ。
洞窟の中は鍾乳洞のようになっていて、神像があることで空間の迫力が凄かったです。
ちなみにこちらにいらっしゃる三体は中国神話の神々。
元始天尊とか太上老君とか。
漫画「封神演義」を読んだことがある方はちょっとテンションが上がる。笑
ちーたろうちなみに旦那も私も封神演義大好き。
思わぬところのテンションが上がりましたが、洞窟内の鍾乳洞も圧巻です。
鍾乳洞の凹凸の陰影が堪らんです。
ちーたろうちなみにこちらの洞窟の全長がそこまで長くないからかキンキンに冷えて寒すぎる！！みたいなことはありませんでした！
庭園
この極楽洞は洞窟寺院だけではなくその先に広がる庭園も魅力的です。
庭園を時計回りで歩いていくと、途中で足つぼの道があります。
案内看板には「靴は脱いで歩きましょう」、と書いていますが結構な人数が普通に靴で歩いています、、
私と娘も挑戦！
靴を脱いで歩いてみましたが、容赦なく立体的に尖った石が埋まっているエリアがあり悶絶しました。
娘はさすがというかスタスタ歩いていました！
そして周りの大人の方も結構普通に歩かれている人が多くてビックリ！
足つぼの道を通り過ぎると、足漕ぎボートエリアに。
行列ができていました！
寺院巡りというと子どもが退屈しがちですがここで一緒にリフレッシュするのも良さそうですね。

Enlightened Heart Buddhist Temple（心意佛院）
まだイポーに行く予定が全く無かった時にたまたまインスタグラムで見つけたスポットです。
その一枚の写真がすごく迫力があり、色んな寺院が他にもあるなかで2つ中の1つにこちらを選ぶことにしました。
Enlightened Heart Buddhist Templeは1976に創建。
中心街から少し外れにあるタンブン地区にあるチベット寺院です。
舗装がされていない轍道を進んでいくと高くそびえる仏塔と仏像が見えてきます。
中に入るとまず仏像が。
仏塔の中へ
どんどん奥に進むと先ほど外から見えていた仏塔に辿り着きます。
そしてついに私が見たかった光景が…！！！
それがこちらです。
仏塔とは思えないほどのこのカラフルさ！
そして見る角度によっては幾何学模様のようにも見えたり、万華鏡を覗いているかのような感覚になったりするのもとても魅力的です。
こちらの仏塔は13階建てで上に登っていくことも可能です。

吸い込まれそうなほど綺麗！
他の仏堂
中はいくつか分岐点があるのですが、大きく開けた場所を中心に上の写真の回廊を進むとまた別の仏堂があります。
中心地から離れた場所にある寺院だからか全体的に人は少ない印象。
ただ年に一度「Wesak Day」には何千人もの信者が参拝に来るそうです。

釈迦の誕生を祝う日です。
日本では「花祭り」や「灌仏会（かんぶつえ）」として知られる行事です。
※2023年のWesak Dayは5月4日です！
訪れる前に知っておいてほしいこと
この寺院の全ては今回回りませんでした。
理由はカラフルな仏塔を見たい、という目的を果たしたからというのが一番ですがそれ以外にも。
①あまり整備がされていない
既に写真を見てお気づきの方はいらっしゃるかと思いますが、あまり整備が行き届いていないようで全体的に居心地が悪い
②自然の力強め
轍道を通って行くような山の麓の寺院で自然に囲まれているので仕方ないのですが、
寺院の中につばめの巣があるようでやたらとつばめが飛び交ってます。
低空飛行をしてきたり糞が気になっちゃう。
③犬が野放しにされている
これが一番無理だったかも…。
野犬…ではなく恐らくここの犬っぽいのですが、2匹ぐらいずっと寺院の中をふらふら練り歩いていて誰も寺院の人が様子を見ている感じはありません。
しっかり躾けられているのかな、とも思いますが申し訳ないけど見た目がそこまで小綺麗にされていないのでちょっと嫌な感じがしました。
子どもを連れているから余計かな。
ちーたろう狂犬病の怖さもありますからね。
そんなこんなで早めに退散することとしました！
素敵な寺院だったので事前に心構えしておけば楽しめると思います。

今回、限られた時間でメジャーな極楽洞とマイナーなEnlightened Heart Buddhist Templeに行ってきました！
Enlightened Heart Buddhist Templeの方は少しネガティブな内容も添えてしまいましたがあの仏塔は一度見る価値アリです！！！
色々あったけどやっぱりあの塔は中毒性があって素敵だった。
むしろ歯痒い！
あんなに表情豊かな仏像やカラフルな色使いを使っているのだから整備にもう少し力をいれたらもっと訪れる人は増えるのに、と思いました。
